The only race to rival the intelligence, the esteemed Talcona are humanoid but very tall, and tend to give the impression of wisdom. Talcona communicate with one another telepathically, and such the range of sounds they can make is limited enough that they cannot speak any language. However, a sort of universal sign language has evolved for Talcona and Ethereals, which many of them practice. Furthermore, their psi talent allows them to telepathically implant or extract thoughts from another being’s mind. Still, most Talcona stick to their own kind and avoid contact with other races.

The serpentine Hilex are fierce warriors with a reputation for bad temperament. They have two slender arms and their snake’s tail splits half way down into two segments, which they can stand on like legs. Although they are not exactly humanoid, most combat-related equipment is designed for easy use by them because they supply so much business. Their venom usually only comes out when they bite, but some have learned to spit venom at a distance.

Their mouths spout fire at their will, making them warriors to be reckoned with and handy in a forge. They have extreme resistance to heat but very little to cold, and a strong aversion to water in its pure form.

The mole-like Terrack often have trouble holding tools in their massive paws, but need no weapon in combat. They are more agile on four legs than two, but will usually stand on two legs among other races to put them at ease. They have bone-like armor plates on their backs to help them in the event of a sudden cave in, but they also come in handy against malicious attacks.

The humanoid Zorr have found widespread employment as countermeasures against wizards for their natural shroud of anti-magic. Zorr usually live and work alone, but when a large number congregate in a particular town, there will quickly be not a mage to found in the entire area. Almost all Zorr speak a second language, because it is forbidden to teach their native tongue to anyone of another race.

Usually called "Dragons" after their mammoth cousins, the Kesprit have traded most of their size, fire, and flying abilities for intelligence and magic; however, they retain limited flying ability and can exhale smoke. They rely heavily on their armor-like scales and claws, teeth, and breath because they can use little equipment, particularly if it is fitted for another species. They will walk on two legs and use their studded tails as props in formal situations, but their children move on four legs or fly.

The charismatic Quin are famous among the 13 races for a talent at survival. The Quin are merely immortal, and when most races would die the Quin merely fall into a deep sleep until their body can heal itself. The Quin are also blessed with incredible regenerative abilities. People joke that if you want to actually kill a Quin that first you have to shoot them twice in the head with a crossbow to distract them, then throw them off a cliff into a river to drown them, and finally find the body and burn it on the pyre to keep them dead.

The small, fragile Kiquei don’t make fine warriors, but many have become famous carpenters, blacksmiths, weavers, and wizards for their incredible abilities. They can accumulate ludicrous amounts of mana, and also have an innate ability to warp local reality to their will – sometimes it takes a trained eye just to tell the difference. Though small, everyone knows that you have to surprise or totally overwhelm a Kiquei to do it any real harm.

Intangible beings, Ethereals are transparent from the front and invisible from the back. They float, totally unaffected by gravity’s pull, and easily pass right through anything unless it has a powerful enchantment on it designed to block them. Because they cannot control airflow around them, they cannot speak a conventional language, although they do have a language for communicating with one another, and some Ethereals have adopted the sign language originally developed for use by the Talcona. Talcona are the only race other than the Ethereals themselves that can make any sense of their bizarre language. They can become tangible willingly to speak and interact with the world around them, but only for a limited time.

The average Demigod is quite ungifted when compared to the other races and as a result, Demigods have become the butt of many jokes. A few Demigods, however, have lived up to the incredible potential of the race and earned fame and respect above all others.
